Exhibition: »tools and relics of the orgien mysterien theater«
Opening with Hermann Nitsch
“stained, splattered and besmeared fabrics and clothes became relics of actions that are now closer to me in terms of recording a spontaneous event than my early paintings.” (In: “Das Orgien Mysterien Theater. Manifeste, Aufsätze, Vorträge,” 1990)
While the processes and choreographies of the action are performed, cotton sheets, stretchers, shirts etc. are splashed with blood or spattered with paint, without heed to their future use as exhibits. This is the first time the Nitsch Foundation is dedicating an exhibition to action relics from the Orgien Mysterien Theater. The artist will attend the opening.
